Poughkeepsie

In 2007, a filmed called the Poughkeepsie Tapes was released. It was about this serial killer in New York. The serial killer has done a lot of different things to his victims. A couple of his most famous killings are taking the head of this man and putting it in the abdomen of his spouse and injecting this women in the neck with some kind of poison. What makes this serial killer so famous was how he recorded all of his victims. The film was shown from the camera point of view.

The serial killers most famous case was about a girl named Cheryl Dempsey. She was in college and lived with her boyfriend. The killer was stalking Cheryl for a while before he made his move. He went in her house killed her boyfriend and took her. Out of all his victims, she was the only one he didn't kill. Instead, he broke her and damaged her both physically and mentally. He would rape her, beat her, and starve her until she did whatever he said. After some time he finally completely broke her. Cheryl had gotten to the point where she felt she loved him and felt he loved her. She even started to assist him with his other killings.

About a year later, the FBI found where he was living. When they went in the house, they found about 800 tapes of all his victims and in his room in a box was Cheryl alive. They took her to the hospital where they found signs of rape and several burns, cuts, and broken bones. After a couple months in the hospital, couldn't find out why she wasn't healing like she was supposed to. Come to find out, she was reinjuring herself. That's all she knew and it felt right to her. After some time, she was finally released to the hospital where she head an interview. In the interview, all she kept saying was, "What do you want me to say? Tell me what to say or do." She was so broken that she didn't know how to live on her own. A couple months later, she killed herself.

About a year later, at the cemetery where she was buried, the gravesite was dug up. Her body was missing form her coffin and in the bodies place was a tape.
